香叶基焦磷酸(GPP)是异戊二烯生物合成途径中的一个中间体。异戊二烯类化合物是一类多样的天然产物,是所有细胞中的必需成分。异戊二烯类化合物是由简单的前体物质异戊二烯焦磷酸(IPP)和二甲基烯丙基焦磷酸(DMAPP)生物合成的。真核生物、真菌和一些革兰氏阳性菌通过甲羟戊酸(MVA)途径产生IPP,而革兰氏阴性菌和一些革兰氏阳性菌则利用非甲羟戊酸途径或2-C-甲基-D-赤藓糖醇-4-磷酸(MEP)途径。GPP是由二甲基烯丙基焦磷酸(DMAPP)和异戊二烯焦磷酸(IPP)在香叶基焦磷酸合酶的催化下缩合形成的。
